Rivers Edge Community Fall Newsletter

Burgers & Dogs

What more fitting fare could there be beautiful sunny summer day in Rivers was the scene on July 8th as John Kenny donned their aprons and provided protein to accompany all of the delicious dishes & desserts contributed by residents community’s summer BBQ, in the Clubhouse and around the pool.

Community Tidbits

New Section in Newsletter: Starting with this issue, each newsletter will feature one or two of our community’s Covenants, Bylaws and/or Rules & Regulations.

This is done as a service to all residents to raise everyone’s awareness of the restrictions inherent in owning a Rivers Edge town home.

Pool Tile repair (blue edging) has been contracted and is expected to be completed by mid-September, per Geoff P. There was some speculation that the pool had a leak, but this turned out not to be the case. Rather a small hose in the filter/heater area was leaking.

Re-paving of Rivers Edge Drive is being pursued by Heritage, who has indicated they will take the lead on this project. No target date is yet available.

Lining of parking spaces in the Clubhouse lot is being pursued by Geoff Pitcher.

Outings & Events

WE MAY BE SENIORS, BUT WE’RE AN ACTIVE BUNCH!
Since our last newsletter was published, group outings have included dinner at

at Lukan’s Farm Resort in Hawley, PA; brunch at the Lackawaxen Inn; and lunch at the Hudson House in Cold Spring, NY. We also celebrated Independence Day with fireworks on the 4th and a poolside barbeque on the 8th.

Many of our outings are planned and some are spontaneous, but all residents are always welcome. If you’d like to be notified when a spontaneous lunch or dinner outing “pops up”, let us know. And look in the Clubhouse and watch your email for announcements.

Here are some photos of our outings and gatherings:

Meet Your Neighbors

New residents Tom and Maureen Burke have been married for 53 years, during which they raised their 3 sons and 1 daughter in the Orange County NY town of Blooming Grove. When the children had all flown the coop, Tom and Maureen retired to Shohola PA, where they lived for 13 years. Feeling the need to downsize, they have at last moved into their new home at 504 Braeburn Path in Rivers Edge.

Tom is retired from Verizon, and Maureen is a retired pediatric RN. Maureen and Tom enjoy their 8 grandchildren, and they also enjoy traveling both near and far.

New Community Signs

You have surely noticed that several new signs have been installed throughout the Rivers Edge community, this in response to resident comments made at several past community meetings. A new “Private Road – Residents & Guests Only” and speed limit sign advises all entering Rivers Edge that this is a private road and that the speed limit on our streets is 15 MPH. Another speed limit sign is in the island at the corner of Macintosh & Braeburn, and still another will be installed shortly on Braeburn in the 600 block. Private property signs have also been installed near the ramp to the river to advise river traffic and other non-residents that our river area is private property.

Please note that the 15 MPH speed limit is authorized and mandated by the Rivers Edge community Covenants and Rules & Regulations.

Guess Who???

There were no correct guesses to the “Guess Who” in the last newsletter. Incorrect guesses were that the photo was of Barbara Gloor or of Ruth Leech, but the correct answer is …. that adorable little girl in the picture last issue was Lee Kenney!

And now for this issue’s adorable child: Can you guess who this cute little lady is? Of course she’s now a Rivers Edge resident. Submit your guess by responding to rusty107@earthlink.net. The first correct guess received via email will get a PA Lottery Scratch Off.

Men’s Coffee Social

All men of Rivers Edge are cordially invited to join our new Men’s Coffee Social hour at 9:00AM on the first Saturday of each month. We meet at the Clubhouse for coffee & pastries, and friendly, light-hearted conversation. Come join us!

In Sympathy

To Laura Congemi, on the recent passing of her mother; and to Pat Dundon on the recent passing of two of her sisters.

Developer’s Corner

Construction work on new building # 23, which will become 400-410 Braeburn Path, is progressing well, with final infrastructure and foundation work expected to be completed by mid-September. Framing will begin as soon as possible after that with full building enclosure and roof completion expected before winter arrives.

All units in Building 25 on Braeburn have been sold, with two of those sales being contingency contracts awaiting the buyers’ sale of their existing homes. Two interior units remain available in river side building # 7, with work about to start on one of those units (1004 Macintosh) to finish it as a spec home.

Century 21 Geba Realty reports that 1110 Macintosh Way (Pat Dundon’s townhome) has been sold, with closing expected to occur on September 18th.

Friends & Family Sales Incentive

The Rivers Edge developer’s “Friends & Family” incentive program provides residents who bring or refer a new prospect to the sales office with a generous financial reward if that prospect purchases a new unit in Rivers Edge. The prospect must not have previously interacted with the sales office, and must be verified as being referred by the resident.

The developer reports that resident response to this new program has been encouraging. As a reminder, the developer will pay the referring resident’s monthly HOA dues for one year if the referral results in a sale. Please contact Geoff Pitcher for additional details
